Emma Daman Thomas – Curator and Designer, Shape, Cardiff

I don’t think of myself as a music industry person because I mainly play music but I do also put on shows and design posters and art for my band and other people’s bands too. I also co-curate a festival called From Now On with my husband, which is our main live music thing.

I think it’s really good to be as enthusiastic about other people’s music as your own. The most rewarding thing about putting on gigs is watching them, being able to invite the most incredible artists to play in your hometown, and, with any luck all your friends and many more people come to join you. Like a massive birthday party, all the time. One of the best things is when you put on something, especially a festival which can be so big and all encompassing and long, and somebody turns to you and says “That was really good.”
