Independent music can’t afford to make mistakes – this is my opinion and I’m certainly not slagging people off, but independent promoters and record labels don’t have anyone backing us up. There is no safety net so you have to be more precise with how you’re selling your product and how you’re developing something. You have to love it.
THERE IS NO SAFETY NET
The thing that I think is just so great in independent music is that everybody communicates; there tends to be less rivalry and you really have to get along with people. You can’t afford to piss somebody off because you might need them. I find that your alliances are so much greater than when you’re working in a corporate company.
